Fallout 3 Windows 7 crash help?

*I've concluded that this game will not work with Windows 7, as I have tried many different "fixes" and none of them have worked. If anyone has a real, for sure fix, a personal message explaining or with a link would be much appreciated.

I recently bought Fallout 3 Game of the Year edition for PC. I got it for my laptop (MSI A6200) which uses Windows 7. The game says it is compatible with XP or Vista, but I've seen people playing it on Windows 7. Every time I try to it just crashes after hitting new game. Anyone know how to fix this problem? I have tried downloading the patch from Bethesda's website but that didn't help either. Direct X is up to date
